Legend Mother Marrow
Nobody remembers when Mother Marrow first came to the Harrow place.
Some swear she was there before Jack. Others say she arrived the year the fields stopped growing right.
Every October, Mother Marrow takes to the road after dark, lantern in one hand and an empty sack in the other. She doesn’t hide. She doesn’t chase.
She skips.
If she passes your house, you’re safe.
If she stops at your gate, lock the doors.
And if she turns that stitched face toward you and starts back toward the fields, don’t follow the lantern.
By morning, Jack will already be working the rows.
People like to say Harrow Jack is the monster of the story.
They’re wrong.
Jack works the harvest.
Mother Marrow chooses what gets cut.
